I'm glad I'm not the only o...Thanks Dave,

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has suffered the local weather on this peak! You are so right, Wales loves to soak you if it can. It was such a disapointment that day, but it is ticked off now.
Cwn Cywarch looks great on the pictures on Google, I bet the whole place is magnificent on a clear day.
Thank you for the info on the Berwyns! I am tempted to take them on next month, if my knee gets a bit stronger that is. I want to approach the Berwyns from Llandrillo, which luckily the X94 passes through regularly.
I do look out for whats flying about in these places, plenty of Red Kites here in North Leeds today coming over from Harewood House.

Many thanks Dave.

SteveFell_Finderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10715588748819622931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217448534651277899.post-51024088817994612982012-03-26T22:30:33.535+01:002012-03-26T22:30:33.535+01:00I should also have said, The Berwyns are wonderful...I should also have said, The Berwyns are wonderful hills, with a real wilderness feel about parts of them. If you're in luck you can spot Hen Harrier up there; and polecats.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4217448534651277899.post-36662631525450241762012-03-26T11:35:59.896+01:002012-03-26T11:35:59.896+01:00Steve, I sympathise...
I've only ever walked ...Steve, I sympathise...

I've only ever walked the Arans once, despite having done other peaks in that area (Dduallt, Rhobell Fawr, etc.) a number of times.

I approached from Cwm Cywarch and it's a rocky uphill slog for a while before it levels out. Unfortunately the bog on that approach is so deep in places that you're pretty much forced to use the timber walkways at most times of the year. Cwm Cywarch is a nice spot though, as you climb out of the valley.

The weather was foul when I was there as well; cleared just as I got back to the car. Wales can do that to you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
